PAD Paris 2013

Following the success of their participation at PAD Paris and London in 2012, Gallery FUMI is delighted to announce its presence at PAD, Paris this March. The London based gallery will present a selection of works by their talented roster of designers and artists including; Max Lamb, Studio Silverlining, Glithero, Alex Hull, Sam Orlando Miller, Faye Toogood, Rowan Mersh, Study O Portable, Jeremy Wintrebert, Thomas Lemut and Zoé Ouvrier. A striking wall-panel of tiles from design duo Glithero’s Blueware series will create a dramatic backdrop to the space. From the same family of works Glithero will also present a selection of new Silverware vessels. British born artist Sam Orlando Miller is one of Gallery FUMI’s newest additions. The artist will present two new works from the Sky Blue Series. The midnight blue sculptural mirror and accompanying table extend Miller’s signature style in their use of hand cut and patinated mirror fragments. Creating evocative and transformative surfaces these works inform beautifully abstract light reflections. Jeremy Wintrebert, a Paris based glassmaker who regularly collaborates with FUMI, will present a pair of mirrored-gold and gunmetal blown-glass lamps. Following the success of his composite core, leather and suede Split sofa shown at PAD London, British designer Alex Hull will be showing a Split Armchair; another abstract, sculptural piece that explores the possibility for comfort and style. In a continuation of their ‘Fuzz’ series UK based duo Study O Portable have worked with FUMI to create a side table. Made in the same manner as their Fuzz vessels, layers of coloured ceramic resin form a functional design object that encompasses an apparent natural form whilst revealing a geometric core. Along similar lines, a pair of Studio Silverlining’s exquisite ‘Pebble’ benches will further explore the relationship between contemporary design and the natural form. Both crafted from African wenge wood and echoing the seamless texture of natural erosion, the smaller pebble is derived – almost scooped – from the core of the larger. British artist Rowan Mersh’s newest installation will explore the untapped potential of yet another unusual organic material. Mersh, increasingly renowned for his works’ intricacies and labour intensive constructions, will create an elegant and impressive wallpiece. Through their participation at PAD Paris, FUMI will once again push boundaries with an unusual and inspiring collection of works curated by its directors Valerio Capo and Sam Pratt.
