Prostheses and Innesti is a collection of works initially created by construction workers of Kogan’s building sites and then reinterpreted with gentle interventions by the Brazilian architecture studio. Born out of various necessities these pieces have been created with materials available at the sites. Kogan and the architects at MK27, mindful of the wealth of ingenuity displayed in these anonymously constructed works, modified and added elements to these pieces. These interventions to the original objects evoke an effect of contrasts, prolong their lifespan and offer new meanings and materiality. During the London Design Festival FUMI will show the entire collection produced to date which spans 4 years including brand new pieces never shown before, reclaimed from a building site of a recent project in Italy. The Italian works are by Studio MK27, Manuela Verga and Paulo Boatti. Marcio Kogan and Studio MK27: Marcio Kogan (b.1952) founded his architecture firm, Studio MK27, in the early 1980’s. He is now regarded as one of the most influential Brazilian architects of his generation. Studio MK27’s projects in Brazil and elsewhere have won numerous awards.
