Exhibitions

Bringing together recent graduates and alumni of the Royal College of Art, Gallery FUMI presents AFTER SCHOOL, an exhibition of works across textiles, ceramics, and sculpture programmed during London Design Festival 2026. The title is a playful nod to the precipice these graduates find themselves at.

The collaboration is a natural one. Gallery FUMI offers its space, its curatorial experience, and its audience; the RCA provides connection to makers whose work embodies the ethos of Gallery FUMI’s distinctive programme. Many of the artists and designers the gallery represents today are alumni of the RCA. This exhibition is, in part, a way of returning something to the institution and the community that shaped them.

The works gathered here span a range of mediums and approaches, united not by a shared theme but by a shared enthusiasm for process, for material, and for asking what an object can do and mean. These sensibilities have been core values of Gallery FUMI’s ambitious curatorial programming since its inception.

AFTER SCHOOL is not a commercial presentation. Rather, it places focus on providing an opportunity for emerging practitioners to put new work in front of an engaged and astute audience during one of the most significant weeks in London’s design calendar. Gallery FUMI offers a context that takes the work seriously as each maker transitions their practice from the school environment to the broader design landscape.
