Bringing together recent graduates and alumni of the Royal College of Art, GalleryFUMI presents AFTER SCHOOL, an exhibition of works across textiles, ceramics, and sculpture programmed during London Design Festival2026. The title is a playful nod to the precipice these graduates find themselves at.
The collaboration is a natural one. Gallery FUMI offers itsspace, its curatorial experience, and its audience; the RCA provides connectionto makers whose work embodies the ethos of Gallery FUMI’s distinctive programme. Many of the artists and designers the gallery represents today are alumni ofthe RCA. This exhibition is, in part, a way of returning something to theinstitution and the community that shaped them.
The works gathered here span a range of mediums andapproaches, united not by a shared theme but by a shared enthusiasm for process, for material, and for asking what an object can do and mean. These sensibilitieshave been core values of Gallery FUMI’s ambitious curatorial programming sinceits inception.
AFTER SCHOOL is not a commercial presentation. Rather,it places focus on providing an opportunity for emerging practitioners to putnew work in front of an engaged and astute audience during one of the mostsignificant weeks in London’s design calendar. Gallery FUMI offers a contextthat takes the work seriously as each maker transitions their practice from theschool environment to the broader design landscape.
